Gerry Defries FCA CF
Gerry is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and a Fellow of the British Institute of Management. He co-founded Defries Weiss in 1976.
Gerry specialises in corporate and personal advisory roles and has helped numerous clients to build small and medium-sized businesses. Over the last ten years he has specialised in ‘turnaround’ work, helping clients to acquire distressed businesses, raising venture capital and turning them around into profitability.
Gerry is a non-executive and finance director of a number of companies on a part-time basis.
Outside work, Gerry's interests are tennis, golf, bridge. He is an accomplished artist and his art work can be viewed at: www.defries-art.co.uk
Director
Warren Weiss LLB MSc MA FCA
Warren is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). He has degrees in law and mathematics, and was awarded an MA for his research on the personal finances of Charles Dickens. He qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 1990, and has been with Defries Weiss since 1995. He became a principal in 1996.
With a strong background in audit, Warren now specialises in tax planning for individuals and family businesses. He has a wide experience of representing clients in HMRC enquiries, and his main areas of expertise are in income tax and corporation tax.
Outside work, Warren is a magistrate and a keen musician.

Kaushik Mehta ACPA
Kaushik qualified as a certified accountant in Tanzania in 1985. He became a partner in a practice in Tanzania where he was in charge of audit compliance work. After moving to the UK in 1987, Kaushik became an audit manager of Defries Weiss in 1999 and a principal in 2004. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales.
Professionally, Kaushik’s special areas of expertise are in VAT, PAYE and trusts taxation. Kaushik is our Staff Director.
Kaushik is married with one son. Outside work he is a keen sportsman with interests in football, cricket and tennis, and he plays badminton and table tennis. He is also interested in alternative medicine and spiritual healing, and is a Reiki Master.

Chantelle Marshall BA FCCA
Chantelle joined Defries Weiss in 2006 as a trainee, and became a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in 2011. She has experience of accounting for a wide range of businesses, with particular expertise in the music industry.
Chantelle’s interests include creative writing, travelling and tasting different cuisines.

Mahek Modha BSc ACCA
Mahek joined our team as a trainee in 2014 and qualified as member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He has wide experience in accounts, systems and audit, and has worked with a diverse range of clients in various industries.
In his spare time, Mahek plays cricket, football and padel. He supports Liverpool FC and enjoys foreign travel, music (hip-hop, R&B, rock) and reading science fiction.
